April 25th is a day that commemorates those who have sacrificed so much to protect our country. It is a day of national remembrance and a day of national pride. To me, ANZAC Day is not just this, but a day that preserves the past, to embed it into the present so the stories that ought to be told can continue into the future. It is a day where we recognise the sacrifices that have been made for us to call this country ‘home’, and the stories that stand with it. ANZAC Day opens my eyes to the history that gets buried with all the rubble. Not only this, but to me, ANZAC Day is unity. We come together, differences aside, to remember those who have sacrificed for us to have peace today. It is a day where we stand as one, and it is a day that stands for all those who have fallen to protect this nation. It recognises the events that have been forgotten and the tales that have gone untold. To me, ANZAC Day tells stories for all those who are not here to tell them.
